Directions to The Fernbank

By car:

Portsmouth-Fishbourne: On leaving the ferry take the A3054 into Ryde. Drop down to the esplanade, continue on this road, which become the A3055, follow the signs, for Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor, it is virtually a straight road. On entering Shanklin drive straight through the town area. Climbing the hill you reach the traffic light, go straight on through the lights, past Daish’s Hotel on your right. On your left is the car park. Turn right into Grange Road (The red and white Rock Shop is on the corner). Go to the end of Grange Road, and turn left. Follow the narrow road around the right-hand and immediately take the right-hand fork sharply up the hill. The Fernbank is immediately on the right at the top of the hill.

Lymington-Yarmouth: On leaving the ferry at roundabout take the A3054, follow this road, signposted for Newport, at roundabout take the third exit on to dual carriage, follow the dual carriage way to the bottom at large roundabout take the fourth exit on to the A3020, signposted Sandown, at the next roundabout take the first exit onto the A3020, signposted Shanklin, Sandown, Ventnor. At Blackwater junction turn right onto A3020, signposted, Godshill, Shanklin. Follow this road for some miles, at the next mini roundabout go straight over, onto the A3020 signposted Shanklin. On entering Shanklin continue down the hill, turn right into Highfield Road. The Fernbank can be found on the Left hand side.

Southampton-East Cowes: On leaving the ferry take the A3020 from East Cowes at the roundabout take the third exit signposted Newport, follow through, at the next roundabout, take the second exit onto the A3020, continue to the next roundabout, and take the first exit, signposted Shanklin, Sandown and Ventnor, continue through to Blackwater junction, turn right on to the A3020, signposted Godshill, Shanklin, after passing through Godshill, you will come to a mini roundabout continue straight across on the A3020. On entering Shanklin continue down the hill, turn right into Highfield Road. The Fernbank will be found on the left hand side.

Passengers arriving at either Ryde Pier (Catamaran) or Ryde Esplanade (Hovercraft) Take the train from Ryde Pier or Ryde Esplanade to Shanklin (just over 20 minute journey). Upon arrival at Shanklin station take a taxi to The Fernbank.

Take the Southern Vectis Number 2 (Newport via Sandown) or 3 (Ventnor) bus from the bus station at Ryde esplanade to Shanklin Old Village. Each service runs half hourly during the day Monday to Friday, hourly in the evenings and on Sundays/bank Holidays.
Get off the number 2 bus in Victoria Avenue ( opposite Hartland Hotel). Walk back down the road to the next junction, which is Highfield Road. Walk down Highfield Road and you will come to the Fernbank, on your left. Approximately a 300 yard walk from the bus stop.
Get off the number 3 bus after it has gone through the traffic lights, opposite Daish`s Hotel. Walk across the road to the Rock Shop and turn right into Grange Road. Walk to the end of Grange Road and turn left. Follow the narrow road around the right-hand bend and immediately take the right-hand fork up the hill. The Fernbank will be found on you right at the top of this hill. Approximately a 300 yard walk from the bus walk from the bus stop.
